I fed a 4-hour Twitch stream to an AI clipper. 21 clips came back, 14 were worth posting

I asked for 30 clips. I got 21.
That is the honest summary of a test I ran on 22 October 2026 with Vyexa. The source was a public Twitch broadcast: NASA's live coverage of the Artemis II splashdown, 3 hours 56 minutes long. I picked it because it is public domain and because a four-hour VOD with long quiet stretches is the exact case where cutting by hand eats an evening.
What I did
I pasted the VOD link into Vyexa and pressed Generate. No editing, no trimming of the source first.
- Import of the link: 142 seconds.
- From pressing Generate to "Your clips are ready": about 10 minutes.
- Source minutes used: 236 of the 300 in the trial pack.
- Errors: none.
On the Free plan the same link was refused after about 4 seconds with "This video is too long for the Free plan". Free takes sources up to 90 minutes. A 4-hour VOD needs a paid pack or the Telegram trial, which is what I used.
Why 21 and not 30
The tool found 46 candidate moments. 25 of them were shorter than 18 seconds, so it dropped them. It does not pad the list with weaker moments to reach the number you typed. The number in the field is how many moments it looks for, not a quota. If you want more clips from the same VOD, run a second pass on a different part of it.
How many were good
I watched all 21. About 14 I would post as they are. The best ones were short, one speaker, one clear sentence: "stable one, four green crew members" worked as a standalone clip with no context.
Seven were weak. The clearest failure: the broadcast sometimes switched to a picture-in-picture layout, and in those moments the speaker ended up tiny in the vertical frame. That happened in clip 16 and five others. Clip 9 was a grey sky with parachute dots and nothing to say. Face tracking follows a face, and a stream layout with a small inset camera is the hard case for it.
What this means for your own VOD
What I would do with a 4-hour stream:
- Import the link and let it run while you do something else. Ten minutes is long enough to make coffee.
- Skip clips under about 20 seconds in your own review. The tool already skips the shortest ones.
- Delete the ones where the face is tiny. Do not try to rescue them with a crop; if you cannot see who is talking, nobody will watch.
- Post the top five, not all 21. Keep the rest for the days you have nothing new.
Limits worth knowing
- Live streams and premieres cannot be imported until they are finished recordings.
- Private or sub-only VODs cannot be imported.
- Files above 3 GB are refused; a link avoids that.
- Free handles sources up to 90 minutes and puts a watermark on clips.
Try it on your VOD
Paste a link at vyexa.net. Free gives 20 clips a month for sources up to 90 minutes; a longer VOD needs the $5 starter pack (40 clips, 30 days, no watermark).
